Full casting has been revealed for the U.K. premiere of Between Riverside and Crazy. Stephen Adly Guirgis' Pulitzer-winning play will run at the Hampstead Theatre May 3–June 15. Michael Longhurst will direct.
A comedic look at life in rent-controlled New York City, Guirgis' play follows recently widowed ex-cop Walter "Pops" Washington and his paroled son Junior as they try to hold onto their rent-stabilized apartment.
The cast will include Danny Sapani as Pops, Ayesha Antoine as Church Lady, Tiffany Gray as Lulu, Martins Imhangbe as Junior, Daniel Lapaine as Lieutenant Dave Caro, Sebastian Orozco as Oswaldo, and Judith Roddy as Audrey O'Connor.
The production will also feature design by Max Jones, lighting design by Anna Watson, sound design/composing by Richard Hammarton, and casting by Lotte Hines.
Between Riverside and Crazy made its Off-Broadway debut in 2014 at Atlantic Theater, where it had a sold-out run. Second Stage revived the show with much of the same cast and creative team at its Tony Kiser Theater Off-Broadway in February 2015. The work premiered on Broadway in 2022, earning two Tony nominations.
