Hamilton revived its special Ham4Ham concert series outside the Richard Rodgers Theatre May 5 to celebrate the Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd and their eight 2023 Tony Award nominations—and it was a thrill of a time!
Stars Josh Groban, Annaleigh Ashford, and the entire cast of the current Sondheim revival joined Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast of Broadway's Hamilton to perform a special mash-up of songs from the two shows' scores. The mash-up included "Wait" from Sweeney Todd and "Wait for It" from Hamilton. Then the cast launched into "Demon Barber Sweeney Todd," the parody tune Miranda wrote where the events of Sweeney Todd is sung to the tune of "Alexander Hamilton" from Hamilton. He originally wrote it for the 2016 Broadway Cares Easter Bonnet Competition.

The outdoor impromptu concert series Ham4Ham was a mainstay of the megamusical Hamilton in the year following its starry 2015 premiere on Broadway, with composer and star Miranda greeting hopefuls in line for each performance's discount ticket lottery with a performance on the steps of the theatre, sometimes improvised, and often including guests from their neighboring shows.
Sweeney Todd is a particular favorite of Miranda's. Below, watch the original cast of Hamilton perform "Demon Barber Sweeney Todd" at the 2016 Broadway Cares Easter Bonnet Competition.
And if anyone needs the lyrics to Sweeney Todd/Hamilton mashup, which has now been dubbed "HamilTodd," Miranda has posted the lyrics to his Instagram.
