In addition to its upcoming production of Richard II, newly adapted by Craig Baldwin and starring Michael Urie in the title role, Off-Broadway's Red Bull Theater will present a one-night-only benefit concert of The Boys From Syracuse. Jesse Berger will direct.
The December 15 concert at Symphony Space’s Peter Jay Sharp Theatre will feature Steven Boyer, Eddie Cooper, Nikki Renée Daniels, Christopher Fitzgerald, Santino Fontana, Nikki M. James, Mark Linn-Baker, Sarah Stiles, John Yi, and more to be announced.
Based on Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors, The Boys From Syracuse has music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Lorenz Hart and a libretto by George Abbott. David Ives penned this concert adaptation. The musical includes such Rodgers and Hart songs as "Falling in Love with Love," "This Can't Be Love," and “Sing for Your Supper.”
The 2025-2026 season at the Off-Broadway company will also include the continuation of its Revelation Readings series (offered both in-person and online and including Doctor Faustus, The Rover, Sejanus, The Illusion, The Roaring Girl, Actors!, and Cymbeline, Refinished), the sixth installment of its Hispanic Golden Age Classics series (including The Travels of Teodor by Lope de Vega, November 17 at Symphony Space); and the Red Bull Theater Podcast series of conversations with great artists.
Among the artists set to be part of the season are Carlo Alban, Isabel Arraiza, Bill Camp, Kelley Curran, Andy Grotelueschen, Elizabeth Marvel, Howard Overshown, Tanis Parenteau, Lily Rabe, Stephen Michael Spencer, and more.
