Broadway actor Andrew Keenan-Bolger will host the 16th Annual Roger Rees Awards May 17.
Keenan-Bolger, best known for originating both the role of Crutchie in Newsies and Jesse Tuck in Tuck Everlasting on Broadway, is also an established director, playwright, and author. He co-authored the children’s book series Jack & Louisa alongside fellow actor-writer Kate Wetherhead, and recently released his own young adult novel, Limelight.
The Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance was created by the Broadway Education Alliance to showcase theatrical talent across high schools in the greater NYC area. This year’s event, sponsored by Broadway's & Juliet, will feature 50 nominated students from 104 participating schools who will perform in a series of group musical numbers directed and choreographed by Theo Lencicki accompanied by the New York City Center Youth Orchestra. A panel of Broadway industry professionals will select two of the nominated students to represent New York at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Jimmy Awards) in June.
The 16th Annual Roger Rees Awards will take place at Symphony Space. Tickets and further information can be found at RogerReesAwards.com.
