Eric B. Sirota’s musical Frankenstein is set to have its world premiere at St. Luke’s Theatre Off-Broadway this fall. The show, which is inspired by Mary Shelley’s classic novel, previously debuted in New York as part of the 2015 New York Musical Theatre Festival, where it was titled Day of Wrath.
Frankenstein features a book, music, and lyrics by Sirota with direction by Clint Hromsco. The show will begin performances October 2 ahead of an October 9 opening, and is scheduled to run through December 18.
Based on Shelley’s original gothic tale, the musical follows a young scientist who creates a living creature. Billed as a “sweeping romantic musical,” Sirota’s Frankenstein explores themes of love, grief, and empathy.
The cast will be made up of Daniel Bristoll, Jonathan Cobrda, Amy Londyn, Benjamin M. Haupt, Cait Kiley, Stephanie Lourenco Viegas, and Gabriella Marzetta.
Music direction and arrangements are by Anessa Marie with lighting design by Marteen Cornelis. Casting is by Tamra Pica Casting.
