Shubert Organization Chair and CEO Robert E. Wankel will be given the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award at the 2022 Tony Awards in recognition of his dedication, commitment, and leadership in supporting The Actors Fund, Broadway Cares, American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and more.

“Bob’s outstanding contributions and dedication to the theatre is remarkable,” says Broadway League President Charlotte St. Martin and American Theatre Wing President and CEO Heather Hitchens. “His generosity and service to the welfare of our Broadway community, over the past four decades and, especially in the face of a global crisis, is immeasurable. We are honored to present the 2022 Isabelle Stevenson Award to Bob.”

In addition to his work with The Shubert Organization and Shubert Foundation, Wankel serves as board chair of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, a post he's held for 39 years; officer and director of The Actors Studio, president of Broadway Cares, and chair of the board of The Actors Fund Housing Development Corporation. He is also a member of The Actors Fund Chairman's Council and serves on the Board of Governors and Executive Committee of The Broadway League and the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Times Square Alliance.
