Eight industry leaders were welcomed to the Broadway Cares Board of Trustees October 9.

Joining the board after a unanimous vote were Grammy-winning and Tony-nominated songwriter and performer Sara Bareilles (Waitress, Into the Woods); Jeff T. Daniel, president of The Shubert Organization; Andrew Flatt, managing director of Disney Theatrical Group; Tony-winning, ground-breaking actor J. Harrison Ghee (Some Like It Hot); Tony-nominated actor Joshua Henry (Ragtime); producer John Johnson, co-founder of Wagner Johnson Productions; producer Greg Nobile, chief executive officer of Seaview Productions; and Tony-winning actor Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon, Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends).

“These leaders are among the most exciting voices in our industry,” said Robert E. Wankel, president of the Broadway Cares Board of Trustees and chairman and CEO of The Shubert Organization, in a statement. “Their talent and diverse perspectives will be invaluable as we continue to grow Broadway Cares’ fundraising and grantmaking efforts. We are proud to welcome these dynamic voices to our board.”

“This extraordinary group of artists, industry leaders and theatrical visionaries have long been shaping our industry and uplifting Broadway Cares through their passion and dedication,” added Danny Whitman, executive director of Broadway Cares. “We are deeply grateful to this brilliant cohort for standing with Broadway Cares in this important, new capacity.”

Stepping off the board after years of distinguished service were Barry Brown, Richard Hester, Peter Lawrence, Jordan Roth, and Tom Schumacher. The board also acknowledged the contributions of two cherished board members who recently passed away: President Emeritus Paul Libin, prolific producer and longtime theatre executive; and Trustee Cornelius Baker, a celebrated public health advocate and policy expert.
