Satisfied, a new documentary tracking Renée Elise Goldsberry's tumultuous year opening Hamilton on Broadway, is getting a nationwide movie theatre release via Aura Entertainment and Fathom Entertainment. The film, which had its world premiere at last year's Tribeca Film Festival, will screen at U.S. movie theatres September 30-October 2. Watch a new trailer for the film above.
The film comprises vlogs Goldsberry recorded herself over the years, including never-before-seen moments from the making of Hamilton. Also featured are new interviews with Goldsberry, Ariana DeBose, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and more. Directed by Chris Bolan and Melissa Haizlip, the documentary is executive-produced by Goldsberry, Audra McDonald, and Kelli O'Hara. Bolan, Haizlip, Steven Cantor, and Jamie Schutz served as producers. Barbara Abeles, Tami Benanav, Katy Bolan, Ted Dintersmith, Geralyn Dreyfous, Eric Falkenstein, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Rick French, Suzanne Grant, Ruth Ann Harnisch, Colin Marshall, Wendy Morgan-Hunter, Andrew Robinson, Regina K. Scully, Elizabeth S. Tisch, Jonathan M. Tisch, Jared Underwood, and Lilah Fisher Wise are also executive producers.
Satisfied's U.S. movie theatre release will follow on the heels of movie theatre screenings of Goldsberry and the rest of the original Broadway cast in Hamilton, celebrating the Pulitzer- and Tony-winning musical's 10th anniversary. Those screenings begin September 5.
The documentary is a production of Stick Figure in association with Amblin Documentaries and Aperture Media Partners.
“Satisfied isn’t just a story about how one role, one show, changed the face of Broadway for future generations; it’s a story about motherhood and resilience,” says Aura Entertainment CEO Marc Goldberg in a statement. “Renée’s story is both personal and powerful, with a behind-the-scenes look at a cultural phenomenon that audiences around the world will find deeply moving. It’s incredibly exciting to partner with Fathom Entertainment to bring Satisfied to life this fall.”
“Satisfied does a wonderful job telling the story behind the story of Hamilton on the big screen and Renée’s own journey and remarkable talents," adds Fathom Chief Executive Officer Ray Nutt. "Fathom is so very pleased to work with Aura in bringing this special documentary project to audiences across the country. With Hamilton coming back to theatres in celebration of its 10-year anniversary on Broadway, the timing is ideal for Satisfied to come to the big screen.”
