Rebel Girl, a new musical from Paradise Square writer-composer Larry Kirwan, will get two developmental reading presentations at New Jersey's New Brunswick Performing Arts Center September 27. 

The work tracks the tumultuous relationship between labor activist Elizabeth Gurley Flynn and Italian revolutionary Carlo Tresca. Peter Flynn (Henry IV) is directing.

The cast for the performances will include Chilina Kennedy (Paradise Square) as Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, Miguel Cervantes (Hamilton) as Carlo Tresca, Daniel Yearwood (Sweeney Todd) as Ben Fletcher, Van Hughes (American Idiot) as Joe Hill, Katie Thompson (Oklahoma!) as Margaret Sanger, Jack Rento (Metamorphosis) as J. Edgar Hoover, and Becca Suskauer (Pretty Little Liars) as Sabina Flynn. Casting is by tbd Casting.

Press notes share that the original score blends period folk, blues, jazz, opera, and gospel with modern rock and musical theatre. Mark Fifer is music directing.
