"The world is scary place right now...raising a daughter in this climate? Yeah, I understand her a lot," says Patina Miller of the Witch, the character the Tony-winning actor is currently inhabiting in the Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods.
Miller (Sister Act, Pippin) chatted with CBS Mornings hosts Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil, and Nate Burleson about the musical and how motherhood—Miller has a 5-year-old daughter—has informed her understanding of the role.
In addition to Miller, the Broadway cast of the New York City Center Encores! production of the musical includes Sara Bareilles, Brian d'Arcy James, Phillipa Soo, Gavin Creel, and Joshua Henry as fairytale characters who journey Into the Woods in pursuit of their dearest wishes.
The show opened July 10 at the St. James Theatre, and is currently slated for a run through August 21. Read reviews here.
