The hit Disney musical Aladdin celebrates its 12th anniversary on Broadway March 20 at the New Amsterdam Theatre. As it plays its 4,349th performance, Aladdin has welcomed more than 7.2 million guests to the New Amsterdam.

It takes more than 200 people—onstage, backstage, in the pit, and in the front of house—to bring the long-running production to life eight times a week: 59 of them have been with the show for five years or more, and 33 since the beginning. Since its debut on Broadway in 2014, 119 performers have appeared in the show, 28 of them making their Broadway debuts.

A little Aladdin trivia: Aladdin and Jasmine have flown over 140 miles on the magic carpet while singing the Oscar-winning “A Whole New World”; the Genie has set off nearly 165,000 pyrotechnics in the showstopping “Friend Like Me”; in the Act Two opener, “Prince Ali,” the cast and wardrobe team have made over a quarter million lightning-fast costume changes; and over 1,000 pounds of custom-mixed glitter have been used to create the Genie’s signature sparkle.

The show also features Jacob Ben-Shmuel as Omar, Colt Prattes as Kassim, JC Montgomery as Sultan, Don Darryl Rivera as Iago, and Ryan Gregory Thurman as Babkak. Caleb A. The stage production, which expands the 90-minute film into a two-act format, has music by Alan Menken, lyrics by the late Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and a book and additional lyrics by Chad Beguelin. Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs.

Aladdin opened at the New Amsterdam March 20, 2014, following previews that began February 26. The musical was nominated for five 2014 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. James Monroe Iglehart won the Tony for his performance as the Genie.
