New musical Billie the Kid makes its West End premiere November 13, with one of two semi-staged performances, the next held November 20, at the Vaudeville Theatre. Kerry Kyriacos Michael directs.
With a book by Conway McDermott and Gez Mercer and music and lyrics by Gez Mercer, Billie the Kid follows a young girl, Billie, who was born in a Bible Belt town to a delinquent mother, and has grown used to having the odds stacked against her. After spending years planning her future with her childhood sweetheart, Brody, she discovers he's been exchanging dirty DMs with their queer classmate David.
The semi-staged premiere stars Natasha J Barnes, Kymberley Cochrane, Harvey Ebbage, Ki Griffin, Beth Hinton-Lever, Tony Jayawardena, Rob Kershaw, Ryan Kopel, Phoebe-Loveday Raymond, Aharon Rayner, Olivia Saunders, Jodie Steele, Yuki Sutton, Hannah Victoria, and Yasmin Wilde.
The production features music direction by Tom Cagnoni, choreography by Julian Capolei, lighting design by Tim Deiling, sound design by Sam Vincent, costume design by Stephen Foley, props by Jida Akil, music supervision by Alex Beetschen, and casting by Andrew Lynford. Lisa D. Richardson serves as general manager alongside production manager Felix Davies. Laila Alj is associate producer.
