The Behavior of Light, a new play by five-time Tony nominee Douglas Carter Beane, receives a staged reading September 26 in San Francisco at the Gateway Theatre.

The Behavior of Light, the third in Beane's series of plays that examines the relationship between art, fame, and truth, centers on an amateur artist whose expressions of unrequited love are commandeered by a more publicly suitable artist. Beane's previous pieces include As Bees in Honey Drown and The Little Dog Laughed.

The reading will be presented in tandem with a silent art auction that will be held simultaneously online and on site at the Gateway; participating artists include local San Franciscan artists Kristine Mays, Fnnch, Jeremy Novy, Kate Tova, Ursula Young, and Luinova. Available artwork can be seen here.

Proceeds from both the reading and the auction will support the GLIDE Foundation.
