Mr. Foote's Other Leg to Transfer to West End Starring Simon Russell Beale | Playbill

News Mr. Foote's Other Leg to Transfer to West End Starring Simon Russell Beale Ian Kelly's Mr. Foote's Other Leg, currently running at Hampstead Theatre in its premiere run through Oct. 17, is to transfer immediately to the West End's Theatre Royal, Haymarket, beginning performances Oct. 28, prior to an official opening Nov. 4.

The play is partly set at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket, where Samuel Foote, its title character, is a lead player, played by Simon Russell Beale. In Georgian London, no one is more famous than Samuel Foote. Satirist, impressionist and dangerous comedian, he has become a celebrity in a city, and at the moment in time, when the concept of selling personality was born, he even has the ear of the king.

The play is based on Kelly's own award-winning biography of Foote, and Kelly is also in the cast playing Prince George.

Directed by Richard Eyre and designed by Tim Hatley, the cast also features Dervla Kirwan (Peg Woffington), Joseph Millson (David Garrick), Micah Balfour (Frank Barber), Jenny Galloway (Mrs. Garner), Forbes Masson (John Hunter), Colin Stinton (Benjamin Franklin/ Charles Macklin), Sophie Bleasdale (Miss Chudleigh) and Joshua Elliott (Hallam).

It is produced by Michael Codron (who commissioned the play), Anthony Pye-Jeary and Greg Ripley-Duggan for Hampstead Theatre.
