Sober Songs, a new musical by Michael Levin, will begin previews Off-Broadway August 30.
Playing Theatre Row, the musical will officially open September 6, for a limited run through September 28. With music direction and arrangements by Brian Reynolds, choreography by Megan Roe, and direction by Chris Mackin, the darkly comedic musical follows six young adults in recovery at a local AA meeting.
The Off-Broadway run will star Melani Carrié (Leading Lady Club) as Angie, Jason Fio (Taking It Too Far) as Roque, Bernard Holcomb (Whiskey Pants: The Mayor of Williamsburg) as Cap, Merrill Mitchell as Bri, Henry Ryeder (Ars Nova’s Ant Fest) as Dean, and Jocelyn Darci Trimmer (Mean Girls) as Nina, with an ensemble including Lennie Disanto, Sarah Sun Park, and Jake Kleve.
Produced by Silver Kung, the show will also feature scenic design by Joshua Warner, costume design by Izzy Kitch, lighting design by Annie Garret-Larson, and sound design by Travis Joseph Wright.
Isabelle Zoeller is the production stage manager, with Ainsley Grace assisting. David Callahan is the production manager, and HyoJu Hong is the company manager. Casting is by Hardt Casting. Sharon Fallon Productions is the general manager.
