The show was performed annually at the Paramount Theatre in Madison Square Garden from 1994 until 2003. In 2004, the production was adapted for television for NBC featuring Kelsey Grammer as Ebenezer Scrooge. The Tabard has now secured the rights to be the first theatre in the U.K. to produce the show.

In it, hard-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge discovers the true spirit of Christmas during one unforgettable night in Victorian London. Visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Christmas Yet To Come, he is taken on a fantastical journey during which he is forced to confront the choices he has made and the lives he has affected.

Menken is best known for his scores for the original stage musicals Little Shop of Horrors and Sister Act, as well as Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Newsies (currently on Broadway), both adapted from the films of the same name that he also scored. A new stage version of Aladdin that he scored for a 1992 film is also currently being tried-out in Toronto ahead of a Broadway bow at the New Amsterdam in February 2014.

Ahrens is the lyricist who, with her most frequent collaborator Stephen Flaherty, has written such Broadway shows as Once On this Island, Ragtime, Seussical and My Favorite Year. They will next be represented on Broadway by Rocky the Musical, coming to the Winter Garden Theatre in February 2014.
