The 2026 Junior Theater Festivals in Atlanta, Georgia and Sacramento, California were the largest yet on record, with the events cumulatively attracting more than 5,200 student performers and more than 10,000 overall attendees.

This year's sold-out Atlanta event, held January 16-18, welcomed 141 groups from 31 U.S. states and Canada, along with groups from Australia, England, France, Malta, New Zealand, Scotland, and Wales. The Sacramento event, held February 6-8, featured 64 groups from 21 U.S. states and Canada, South Korea, and New Zealand.

The news comes as the Festival unveils dates for the 2027 Junior Theater Festivals, set for January 15-17 in Atlanta and February 5-7 in Sacramento. Priority registration for returning groups and Professional Development participants from the past two years will open March 15. New group registration will open April 1.

JTF celebrates musical theatre and musical theatre education with a weekend of events and performances that bring Broadway and West End professionals together with educators and young students. Youth theatre companies can bring 15-minute staged selections (from titles in musical licensor Music Theatre International's Broadway Junior collection) for adjudication. Students can also attend interactive workshops. Students interested in technical theatre can participate in the tech track, which includes the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals backstage for the festival's mainstage events.
