Cast Recordings & Albums London's Devil Wears Prada Musical Releases a Cast Album September 19

Vanessa Williams stars as Runway Editor Miranda Priestly in the Elton John-Shaina Taub-Kate Wetherhead musical version of the film favorite.

The stage musical version of The Devil Wears Prada, currently running in London's West End, releases its cast album for streaming alongside physical CD and LP releases September 19, all via EMI.

The album features 18 songs from Elton John, Shaina Taub, and Mark Sonnenblick's score, and two demos from John as bonus tracks. The show has already released one of its tracks, "Miranda Girl," featuring Georgie Buckland as Andy. Hear Buckland sing that track above.

“The subject matter of The Devil Wears Prada absolutely screams out for music," said John in an earlier statement. "It's been one of my favorite films of the last 20 years, so when the conversation came up about me writing the music for the stage version, it was an absolute no-brainer. I'm always looking forward, never backwards, so it absolutely had to be a modern, contemporary score. The best musicals leave people with a joyous feeling, and that's completely how I felt writing this. It has been wonderful to see the response and success of the stage show and hearing the fantastic reactions to the songs."

The cast recording is produced and mixed by Giles Martin. John's demos are produced by Matt Still and Kim Bullard.

The musical, which officially opened December 5, 2024, is currently scheduled to continue through January 3, 2026. See what critics had to say about the movie-turned-musical, directed and choreographed by Tony winner Jerry Mitchell, here. The work, which premiered in Chicago in 2022 with a different creative team and cast, features music by John, lyrics by two-time Tony winner Taub (Suffs) and Sonnenblick, and a book by Kate Wetherhead. This West End run was preceded by a try-out at Theatre Royal Plymouth last year.

Vanessa Williams leads the cast as the ruthless Miranda Priestly, sharing the stage with Georgie Buckland as Andy, Amy Di Bartolomeo (SIX: The Musical) as Emily, James Darch as Christian, Rhys Whitfield as Nate, and Olivier winner Matt Henry as Nigel.

The company also includes Maddy Ambus, Gabby Antrobus, Selena Barron, Pamela Blair, Robertina Bonano, Josh Damer-Jennings, Lloyd Davies, Elishia Edwards, Akeem Ellis-Hyman, Jinny Gould, Natasha Heyward, Samuel How, Luke Jackson, Emma Johnson, Debbie Kurup, Nathan Lorainey-Dineen, Liam Marcellino, Ciro Lourencio Meulens, Theo Papoui, Christopher Parkinson, Eleanor Peach, Ethan Le Phong, Jon Reynolds, Harriet Samuel-Gray, Olivia Saunders, Brandon Lee Sears, Joshua Steel, Kayleigh Thadani, Ella Valentine, and Tara Yasmin.

Based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger and its 2006 film adaptation, The Devil Wears Prada follows aspiring fashion journalist Andy Sachs. When she is hired as assistant to Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of the fictional Runway Magazine, she discovers that breaking into the industry requires more than she expected.

Mitchell's creative team includes scenic designer Tim Hatley, costume designer Gregg Barnes, lighting designer Bruno Poet, sound designer Gareth Owen, and hair, wig, and makeup designer Campbell Young Associates. Casting is by Jill Green. Orchestrations and arrangements are by music supervisor Tom Deering, and Katharine Woolley is music director. Giles Martin serves as music executive.

Kevin McCollum and Rocket Entertainment's David Furnish produce after working on the Chicago world premiere. Joining for the U.K. bow is Jamie Wilson. They present by special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical.
