Broadway News Linedy Genao Will Join Cast of Broadway's The Great Gatsby; Austin Colby Steps Into Principal Role

Exiting the production at the Broadway Theatre are Sara Chase, John Zdrojeski, and Noah J. Ricketts.

Linedy Genao (Bad Cinderella, On Your Feet!) and original cast member Austin Colby (Jersey Boys) will step into the roles of Myrtle Wilson and Tom Buchanan, respectively, in the new musical The Great Gatsby beginning March 31 at the Broadway Theatre.

Genao and Colby will succeed original cast members Sara Chase and John Zdrojeski, who will play their final performances March 30. Also concluding his run March 30 is Noah J. Ricketts, who plays Nick Carraway. Ricketts' successor will be announced at a later time.

The Broadway company is currently led by Ryan McCartan as Jay Gatsby and Sarah Hyland as Daisy Buchanan with Samantha Pauly as Jordan Baker, Charlie Pollock as George Wilson, and Terrence Mann as Wolfsheim.

The ensemble includes Raymond Edward Baynard, Curtis Holland, Traci Elaine Lee, Dariana Mullen, Tess Soltau, Pascal Pastrana, Kayla Pecchioni, Mariah Reives, Dan Rosales, Dave Schoonover, Matt Wiercinski, Jessica Mallare White, and Alexis Hasbrouck. Kurt Csolak, Carissa Gaughran, Morgan Harrison, Brandon J. Large, Samantha Pollino, Alex Prakken, Elena Ricardo, Justin Keats, and Jasmine Pearl Villaroel round out the cast as swings.

Based on the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, The Great Gatsby features music and lyrics by Nathan Tysen (Paradise Square) and Jason Howland (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) and a book by Jonathan Larson Grant winner Kait Kerrigan (The Mad Ones). Marc Bruni (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) directs with choreography by Dominique Kelley (Mariah’s Magical Christmas Special).

Set in the Roaring '20s, the musical follows eccentric millionaire Jay Gatsby, who will stop at nothing in his tragic pursuit of Daisy Buchanan, a wealthy young woman whom he loved in his youth.

The Great Gatsby also has scenic and projection design by Paul Tate de Poo III, costume design by Linda Cho, sound design by Brian Ronan, lighting design by Cory Pattak, and hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe and Rachael Geier.

Arrangements are by Jason Howland, orchestrations are by Howland and Kim Scharnberg, the music director is Daniel Edmonds, and the music producer is Grammy winner Billy Jay Stein for Strike Audio.

Casting is by C12 Casting, and the production stage manager is Brian Bogin. Mark Shacket of Foresight Theatrical serves as executive producer.

The new musical won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Musical.
