Imagen Awards, created in 1985, honor the positive portrayal of Latinos and Latino culture on screen. Hosted by comedian and actor Aida Rodriguez, this year’s awards recognized Tony-winning Hamilton and In the Heights creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and his family as the recipients of the Imagen Foundation’s President’s Award, as reported by Deadline.
The honor recognizes their contributions artistically—from Miranda’s work on Broadway that has gone global to his Emmy-nominated Saturday Night Live guest spot—and philanthropically: their noted support of organizations like Immigrants We Get the Job Done Coalition, which took Twitter by storm with #Ham4All.
Next year, Carnegie Hall's house band will perform Bernstein’s “Kaddish” Symphony, unfinished works by Schubert, and the final concert of Conductor Bernard Labadie.
