Broadway News Jordan Donica and Maree Johnson Will Return to Broadway's Phantom of the Opera

The current Raoul actor is taking a leave of absence to appear in Off-Broadway's Titanique.

Produced by Cameron Mackintosh and directed by the late Harold PrinceAndrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera announced the return of Jordan Donica as Raoul and Maree Johnson as Madame Giry. 

Donica will return to the role May 29 for a limited engagement, reprising his 2016 Broadway debut. John Riddle who currently plays Raoul will be taking a leave of absence May 29-August 1 to appear in the Off-Broadway's new musical Titanique.

Donica's previous stage roles include Freddy in the Lincoln Center Theater production of My Fair Lady and Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson in the Los Angeles and San Francisco companies of Hamilton. On screen, he is best known for playing Jordan Chase in the Charmed reboot on The CW.

Johnson will return May 16 following a leave from the production to play the same role in the Sydney Harbor's Handa Opera production of The Phantom of the Opera, which concluded April 24. During her absence, the role will be played by Phantom veteran Rebecca Eichenberger whose last performance will be May 15.

Leading the show is Ben Crawford as The Phantom, Emilie Kouatchou as Christine, Bradley Dean as Monsieur André, Craig Bennett as Monsieur Firmin, Raquel Suarez Groen as Carlotta Giudicelli, Carlton Moe as Ubaldo Piangi, and Sara Esty as Meg Giry. At certain performances, Julia Udine plays Christine.

The ensemble currently features Giselle Alvarez, Polly Baird, Janinah Burnett, Xiaoxiao Cao, David Michael Garry, Chris Georgetti, Kelly Jeanne Grant, Katharine Heaton, Satomi Hofmann, Ted Keegan, Kfir, Kelly Loughran, Scott Mikita, Greg Mills, Justin Peck, Patricia Phillips, Richard Poole, Jessica Radetsky, Lindsay Roberts, Janet Saia, Paul A. Schaefer, Carly Blake Sebouhian, Jeremy Stolle, Carrington Vilmont, Jim Weitzer, Elizabeth Welchand, and Erica Wong.

Phantom of the Opera is is the longest-running show in Broadway history and has played at The Majestic Theatre for 34 years. The original production premiered in London's West End in 1986, transferring to Broadway in 1988. Based on the Gaston Leroux novel, the work centers on a mysterious Phantom who lives beneath the Paris Opera House and the young singer who becomes his obsession.

Lloyd Webber's score introduced such favorites as "The Music of the Night, "All I Ask of You," and "Think of Me." A film adaptation debuted in 2004, directed by Joel Schumacher and starring Gerard Butler, Emmy Rossum, and Patrick Wilson.
