Michael Griffo's Pen Pals has set an Off-Broadway bow at St. Clement's Theatre, where performances will begin December 5 ahead of a December 11 opening night. SuzAnne Barabas is directing the production, a portion of proceeds from which will go to breast cancer non-profit Susan G. Komen.

Johanna Day (Sweat) and Nancy McKeon (The Facts of Life) will lead the production as Bernie and Mags, respectively, two women living in different countries who are best friends despite having never met, thanks to a 50-year pen-pal relationship. The work made its world premiere earlier this month at New Jersey Repertory Company. McKeon and Barabas are reprising their work from that run.

"It is an honor to be producing Pen Pals, a show that celebrates the extraordinary in the everyday lives of women by demonstrating the strength of friendship and female empowerment," says Lisa Dozier Shacket, who leads the producing team. "We are thrilled for audiences to experience this beautiful show and see a piece of their own humanity in the story of Bernie and Mags."

Also reprising their work from the New Jersey run are set designer Jessica Parks, lighting designer Jill Nagle, and sound designer Nick Simone. The Off-Broadway bow will feature costume design by David C. Wollard, with Rose Riccardi serving as production stage manager. Shacket is producing with Anthony Hazzard and Scott Stolzenberg in association with NJ Repertory Company. Logan DeWitt is associate producer.
