Grammy nominee Jimmy Buffett appeared on NBC’s The Today Show to talk about his Broadway-bound musical Escape to Margaritaville. The show is about to depart on a three-city tour before landing in New York City at Broadway’s Marquis Theatre.
“We did La Jolla, we broke the house record there,” said Buffett, “we go to New Orleans, we go to Houston. I wanted to take it on the road first —we go to Chicago and then we come in in March.”
Buffett says the boy-meets-girl story based on the catalog of his tunes contains “portions of it that come from reality and other parts that have been made up.”
