An starry lineup of Broadway talent will appear in a one-night concert presentation of Rob Gardner's Lamb of God at the Metropolitan Opera House on March 30.
The musical retelling of the Passion will star Jessie Mueller (Waitress, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) as Mary the Mother, Santino Fontana (Tootsie, Hello, Dolly!) as John, Norm Lewis (The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, Chicken & Biscuits) as Pilate, Joy Woods (Gypsy, The Notebook) as Martha, Anna Zavelson (Masquerade, The Notebook) as Mary Magdalene, and Alex Joseph Grayson (Parade, The Outsiders) as Thomas. They will be joined by an 80-piece orchestra and 135-person choir, combining the Brigham Young University Singers and the Brigham Young University Concert Choir, conducted by Gardner.
The Easter week concert is presented in partnership with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This will mark the first fully-realized New York City performance of Lamb of God, which debuted as a concept album featuring the London Symphony Orchestra in 2010, and has since been performed around the globe.
