An industry reading of the new musical Hard Road to Heaven is presented August 14 at Ripley Grier Studios.
Directed by Jackson Gay with musical direction by Jacob Yates, the cast features Jackie Burns (Wicked) as Jenny Dixon, Elizabeth Teeter (Beetlejuice) as Anna Grace Dixon, Jared Zirilli (Lysistrata Jones) as Kellin Wayne, Leah Hocking as Linnell Dixon, J. Robert Spencer (Next to Normal) as Hank Dixon, Bryan Fenkart (Memphis) as Jimmy Lee Stewart, Jerry Dixon (If/Then) as Charlie Morgan, and Marcus Gladney, Jr. (Choir Boy) as Marcus Dorsey.
Rounding out the company are Imani Brissett, Brad Greer, Alec Ludacka, Shannon Mullen, Jenny Lynn Suckling, and Cecilia Trippiedi. Casting is by Daryl Eisenberg.
Featuring a book by Willy Holtzman and music and lyrics by David Spangler, Jerry Taylor, and Marty Dodson, the musical follows Jenny Dixon, the reigning queen of country as she navigates the ups and downs of a superstar career and the gospel-singing family she left behind.
