At the Tony Awards, after the statues are given to the winners, they are taken to the media room, where they speak to journalists about their prizes. Playbill was able to have some one-on-one time with some of the 2023 Tony winners. We spoke with Victoria Clark after winning the prize for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for her work in the title role of the Tony-winning Best Musical Kimberly Akimbo.
Watch the video above to see Clark react to winning, where she remarked: "I'm in shock. Our little teeny tiny musical with nine people who ice-skate around town at the Booth Theatre...it's the little show that could!" She also added that the show's five Tony wins "belong to everybody" who worked on the show.
Clark previously won a Tony for her performance in The Light in the Piazza and was also Tony-nominated for her work in Gigi, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, and Sister Act. She has also been seen on Broadway in The Snow Geese, Urinetown, Cabaret, Titanic, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, A Grand Night for Singing, Guys and Dolls, and Sunday in the Park With George.
