Off-Broadway News Irish Rep Will Bring Back Their It’s A Wonderful Life! This Holiday

The production reimagines the beloved film as a live radio broadcast, filled with nostalgic holiday songs, vintage commercials, and more.

Off-Broadway's Irish Repertory Theatre will stage It’s A Wonderful Life! this holiday season.

Adapted from Frank Capra's 1946 film by Anthony E. Palermo, this production will be directed by Charlotte Moore (A Child’s Christmas in Wales). Featuring music direction by David Hancock Turner (The Butcher Boy), It’s A Wonderful Life! will begin performances December 3 at the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage, with opening night set for December 7, for a limited run through December 31. The company has presented the work annually for years.

The production reimagines the beloved film as a live radio broadcast, filled with nostalgic holiday songs, vintage commercials, and more. As in the classic film, the story follows George Bailey, the kindest man in Bedford Falls who is selfless to a fault: when Bailey begins to question if his good deeds have made a difference in the world, a guardian angel descends to show Bailey precisely how much his kindness has been worth.

Full casting and creative team for It’s A Wonderful Life! will be announced at a later date. The original score is composed and arranged by Jonathan Green.
