There's a new remix in town! West End favorite & Juliet will make the jump to Broadway, with performances set to start October 28 ahead of a November 17 opening night at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre.
The highly-anticipated production has released an official trailer for the Main Stem production, including snippets of the hit songs "Baby One More Time," "Since U Been Gone," "It's My Life," and "Roar." Check out the trailer above.
The Broadway debut follows the work's North American premiere at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre, which played June 22-August 14. The principal cast from the Toronto run will continue with the production on Broadway, including West Side Story and Dear Evan Hansen alum Lorna Courtney as Juliet, U.K. original cast member Melanie La Barrie as Nurse, Tony winner Paulo Szot as Lance, Broadway veteran Betsy Wolfe as Anne Hathaway, Tony nominee Stark Sands as Shakespeare, Justin David Sullivan as May, Ben Jackson Walker as Romeo, and Philippe Arroyo as Francois
Featuring a book by Schitt's Creek writer and Emmy winner David West Read and music from Grammy winner Max Martin, & Juliet irreverently considers a new story for Shakespeare's tragic heroine and lovestruck teenager Juliet in which she chooses to live after Romeo dies, with a score featuring familiar pop songs from the last three decades such as “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” “Baby One More Time,” “Larger Than Life,” “That’s The Way It Is,” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling."
Luke Sheppard will again be at the helm for the Broadway bow, reuniting his full West End creative team including choreographer Jennifer Weber, scenic designer Soutra Gilmour, costume designer Paloma Young, lighting designer Howard Hudson, sound designer Gareth Owen, video and projections designer Andrzej Goulding, and hair designer J. Jared Janas. Bill Sherman serves as musical supervisor, orchestrator, and arranger, with Dominic Fallacaro as music director. Casting is by Stephen Kopel and Carrie Gardner. Martin also serves as producer alongside Tim Headington, Theresa Steele Page, Jenny Petersson, and Martin Dodd, with Eva Price serving as executive producer.
& Juliet premiered at Manchester Opera House in 2019 ahead of moving to the West End's Shaftesbury Theatre, where it continues to play an open-ended run.
