Walt Disney Studios' filmed version of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Pulitzer Prize-winning Hamilton arrives in cinemas in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico September 5 with screenings in the U.K. and Ireland beginning September 26, and Australia and New Zealand November 13.
The theatrical release of Hamilton expands upon the Emmy-winning version available on Disney+ with the inclusion of “Reuniting the Revolution,” a special prologue to the film featuring new interviews with the original cast and creators as they reflect on the impact the show has had on their lives.
Filmed at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre in June 2016, the cast features Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler, Jonathan Groff as King George, Christopher Jackson as George Washington, Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds, Miranda as Alexander Hamilton, Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr, Okieriete Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton, and Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton.

“When we filmed Hamilton, we wanted to try to capture the feeling of being in the Richard Rodgers Theatre during that first year on Broadway,” director/producer Thomas Kail recently stated, “and we’re thrilled that audiences will now have the opportunity to experience it on the big screen.”
A special New York premiere screening was held September 3 at the Public Theater's newly renovated Delacorte.

The musical—with a book and score by Miranda—explores the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. Inspired by the book "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow, the musical incorporates historical figures such as George Washington, Aaron Burr, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson.

Hamilton, which continues at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre, won 11 2016 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The musical officially opened August 6, 2015, following previews that began July 13. It is also the recipient of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
