Are you and your BFF not landing on a fun costume pairing for this weekend's Halloween festivities? Look no further. Broadway besties Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells, stars of Gutenberg! The Musical!, have you covered.
As their Gutenberg! alter egos, Bud and Doug, the duo is turning some favorite viral pop culture moments from this year into Halloween couples costumes. You'll find everything from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to Taylor's chicken nugget dips of choice, ketchup and seemingly ranch!
Click through the gallery below for more ideas from Bud and Doug, illustrated, as they do in their show, by simply writing the character name on a yellow trucker hat.
In the musical, now running on Broadway at the James Earl Jones Theatre, Gad and Rannells play Bud and Doug, two guys who have written a musical about Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press. Convinced their show is ready for Broadway, they are holding a backers' performance in which they play all the parts, aided by hundreds of baseball caps adorned by character names.
Tony winner Alex Timbers directs the Broadway premiere, written by Beetlejuice Tony nominees Anthony King and Scott Brown.
The creative team also includes scenic designer Scott Pask, costume designer Emily Rebholz, lighting designer Jeff Croiter, and sound designers M.L. Dogg and Cody Spencer. Music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations are by T.O. Sterrett, vocal supervision is by Liz Caplan, and music direction is by Marco Paguia. Casting is by C12 Casting. Rachel Sterner serves as production stage manager.
