Ogunquit Playhouse's production of High Society, directed by Matt Lenz, is now underway, and Playbill has a first look at the all star production.
Featuring Cole Porter’s timeless tunes, the musical began performances July 24, and will continue through August 23.
Set to Porter's iconic tunes, the musical is based on Philip Barry's play The Philadelphia Story and its film version, High Society. The romantic escapade stars Tony nominee Robyn Hurder (Smash, Moulin Rouge!) as Tracy Samantha Lord, Max Clayton (The Music Man, Moulin Rouge!) as C.K. Dexter Haven, and Tony nominee Andrew Durand (Dead Outlaw, Shucked) as Macaulay “Mike” Connor.
They are joined by Ari Groover (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical) as Cholly Knickerbocker, Sydney Morton as Liz Imbrie, Charlie Franklin (Floyd Collins) as George Kittredge, Sara Gettelfinger (Water for Elephants) as Margaret Lord, Mike McGowan as Seth Lord, and Bryan Batt (Beauty and the Beast) as Uncle Willie.
The ensemble includes Joshua Burrage (Boop! The Musical), Jaclyn De Nicola (Radio City Christmas Spectacular), ZaKeyia Lacey, Christian Probst, Troy Valjean Rucker, Harrison Asher Smith, Corinne Sweeney, Jesse Swimm, Rachel Tata, Charlotte Van Ledtje, Alysia Vastardis, Jessica Wockenfuss, and Katrina Yaukey.
High Society features music and lyrics by Cole Porter, a book by Arthur Kopit, and additional lyrics by Susan Birkenhead. The book was adapted for Ogunquit Playhouse by B.T. McNicholl. High Society played 27 previews and 144 regular performances at the St. James Theatre, officially opening April 27, 1998. Directed by Christopher Renshaw, the cast included Melissa Errico, Randy Graff, Anna Kendrick, Stephen Bogardus, and more.
The Ogunquit production has choreography by Jeffry Denman, music supervision and orchestrations by Greg Jarrett, music consultancy by Sam Davis, music direction by Nicholas Connors, scenic design by Alexander Dodge, costume design by Tracy Christensen, lighting design by Richard Latta, sound design by Haley Parcher, and wig, hair, and makeup design by Roxanne De Luna. Casting is by ARC.
