Next up in the 2017 Lyrics & Lyricists concert series at the 92nd Street Y in New York will explore the career of the songwriting team that created My Fair Lady, Brigadoon, Paint Your Wagon, Gigi, and other musicals.
Bryce Pinkham and Lauren Worsham, Tony Award-nominated co-stars of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder, will reunite for From Camelot to California: The Worlds of Lerner and Loewe, which will give five performances June 3–5. The concert will also feature performances by Tony Award winner Chuck Cooper, plus Lilli Cooper and Ryan Silverman.
The concert will take audiences to Scotland, California, Covent Garden, Paris, and the mythical Camelot—locations explored by lyricist Alan Jay Lerner and composer Frederick Loewe through their groundbreaking musicals in a collaboration that lasted from 1943 to 1974. Rob Berman, music director of the New York City Center Encores! series and recent Broadway musicals Dames at Sea, Bright Star, and Tuck Everlasting, will makes his Lyrics & Lyricists debut as artistic director (and host) for a show that will include Lerner & Loewe standards such as “Almost Like Being in Love” and “I Could Have Danced All Night.”
Mark Mitchell will conduct a band that includes Andrew Sterman, Peter Sachon, Bill Ellison, and Eric Poland.
Performances are scheduled for 8 PM June 3; 2 and 7 PM June 4; and 2 and 7:30 PM June 5 in Kaufman Concert Hall at the 92nd Street Y, 1395 Lexington Avenue at 92nd Street, Manhattan. Tickets, which cost $58 to $63, can be ordered by clicking here.
