Manhattan Theatre Club has found casting for its upcoming Broadway world premiere of Tony- and Pulitzer winner David Lindsay-Abaire's The Balusters, set to play the company's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in spring 2026 with Kenny Leon at the helm.
Starring will be Marylouise Burke (True West) as Penny Bewell, Carl Clemons-Hopkins (Hacks) as Brooks Duncan, Margaret Colin (Carousel) as Ruth Ackerman, Renée Elise Goldsberry (Hamilton) as Kyra Marshall, and Richard Thomas (Our Town) as Elliott Emerson. Additional casting is to be announced.
This MTC commission centers on a small-town neighborhood association experiencing some big drama—namely, the concept of installing a new stop sign on the neighborhood's most bucolic block.
The company's season also includes a Broadway bow for James Graham's London favorite Punch this fall. At their Off-Broadway venue at New York City Center, the theatre will present a reimagining of Martyna Majok's Queens in the fall, and the Off-Broadway premiere of Ngozi Anyanwu's The Monsters in 2026, the latter a co-production with New Jersey's Two River Theatre.
