Off-Broadway's Sea Dog Theater will stage a 90th anniversary revival of Clifford Odets' Awake and Sing!, with performances running October 14-November 8. Opening night will be October 18.
The seminal work, which premiered in 1935, focuses on the working-class Berger family living in the Bronx of the Great Depression, capturing the harsh realities of the search for dignity in a tough world. Erwin Maas will direct the upcoming revival.
The cast will include Juan Carlos Diaz as Myron Berger, Christopher J. Domig as Moe Axelrod, Alfred C. Kemp as Uncle Morty, Nancy Ma as Hennie Berger, Trevor McGhie as Ralph Berger, Sina Pooresmaeil as Sam Feinschreiber, Gary Sloan as Jacob, and Debra Walton as Bessie Berger.
The production will feature scenic and lighting design by Guy De Lancey, costume design by Hanxio Zhang, and sound design by Fan Zhang. James FitzSimmons will serve as production stage manager.
