New musical Reunions will make its Off-Broadway premiere this month for a seven-week limited engagement. It will play City Center Stage II beginning October 24, with an official opening night slated for November 2. Gabriel Barre (Andrew Lippa’s Wild Party) is directing and choreographing.
The musical adapts two one-act plays, The Twelve Pound Look by J.M. Barrie (the creator of Peter Pan) and A Sunny Morning by Spain's Quintero Brothers, and will feature music by Jimmy Calire and a book and lyrics by Jeffrey Scharf. The Twelve Pound Look takes place in London in the early 20th century. Harry Sims is about to be knighted when his past catches up with him. A Sunny Morning takes place in a park in Madrid where the hope of love springs eternal, even among septuagenarians. The merging of these two plays explores their common theme of rediscovering a life almost lived; the musical is divided into two acts with each act a different story.
The cast of Reunions will include Bryan Fenkart (Memphis) as Sir Harry, Joanna Glushak (War Paint) as Dona Laura, Chilina Kennedy (Beautiful: The Carol King Musical) as Kate, Courtney Reed (Aladdin) as Lady Sims, Daniel Torres (Evita) as Edward/Juanito, and Chip Zien (Into The Woods) as Don Gonzalo. Janet Aldrich, Keith Lee Grant, and Pearl Rhein will be swings.
Reunions will feature scenic design by Edward Pierce, lighting design by Ken Billington and Mitchell Fenton, costume design by Jen Caprio, sound design by Megumi Katayama, orchestrations and arrangements by Sonny Paladino, and hair and wig design by J. Jared Janas. Ashley Wren Collins is the associate director and choreographer.
Reunions is executive produced by Davenport Theatrical Enterprises / Jonathan Hogue.
