Casting is now complete for the upcoming concert presentation of the new musical Roam, which will be directed by Rupert Hands (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Evita) with choreography by Olivier winner James Cousins (Guys and Dolls, A Midsummer Night’s Dream). The one-night-only performance is scheduled for November 23 at London's Shaftesbury Theatre.
Featuring music and lyrics by Alexander Sage Oyen with a book by Michael Dovid, Roam is based on an original concept by Dovid. It tells the story of a nomadic clan's caravan as they confront the ghosts of their past while trapped in hostile territory. At the center is Yoska, a father tormented by loss and regret, whose unexpected return throws sons Stefo and Pesha into a storm of loyalty, rivalry, and long-buried grief.
As previously reported, the upcoming concert will star Tony and Olivier nominee Ramin Karimloo (Les Misérables, Funny Girl) as Yoska, Diego Andres Rodriguez (Evita, Sunset Blvd.) as Pesha, Jordan Luke Gage (& Juliet, Bonnie & Clyde) as Stefo, Frances Mayli McCann (The Great Gatsby, Bonnie & Clyde) as Aishe, Melanie La Barrie (Hadestown, & Juliet) as Vodoma, Hope Lavelle (The Phantom of the Opera) as Nanoka, and Olivier winner David Thaxton (Sunset Blvd., Come From Away) as Philippe.
Newly announced for the evening are Angela Caesar (Caroline, or Change) as Sabria, Jonathan Charles (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) as Chor, Fred Double (Aladdin) as Taren, Emma Farnell-Watson (Ammonia) as Mom, Alex Given (Book of Mormon) as Tshiri, Ali Goldsmith (As Long As The Stars Last) as Zelvain, Indiana Hawkes (Sing Street) as Ori, Michael Lin (Evita) as Zyava, Emma Lloyd (Sunset Blvd.) as Khelia, Shayna McPherson (Sunset Blvd.) as Tarpine, and Adam Strong (Rocky Horror Picture Show) as Bichot and Staro Phuro.
The concert will also have musical supervision and orchestrations by Lloyd Kikoler, musical direction by Nick
Barstow, vocal arrangements by
Cynthia Meng, with arrangements by Oyen and Kikoler. Set and costume
design will be by Soutra Gilmour with lighting design by Peter
Small and sound design by Sound Quiet Time.
