Broadway legend Carol Burnett has taken to social media to get Broadway's Majestic Theatre renamed for late Broadway producer and director Harold Prince. The 21-time Tony Award winner helmed the Majestic's current tenant, The Phantom of the Opera, which recently announced that it will end its historic 35-year run in February.

"I believe along with many others in the theatre world that the Majestic Theatre in New York City should be renamed for the brilliant producer-director Harold Prince," says Burnett in an Instagram post. "It's more than fitting, since the Majestic houses Phantom of the Opera, which was directed by Hal and is the longest-running show in Broadway history. And not only that, but Hal was the recipient of 21 Tony Awards for Broadway shows he produced and/or directed. I had the joy of knowing and working with Hal. It was one of the most wonderful and rewarding experiences of my career. He was a beloved friend." Watch the full video below.

Burnett invites theatre fans to use the hashtag #TheMajesticisFitForaPrince as part of a social campaign to make the name change happen. Fellow Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth is already on board.

Were The Shubert Organization—who owns the Majestic—to change the theatre's name, it would become the latest of several similar moves on Broadway. The Cort Theatre, soon to be home to Audra McDonald in Ohio State Murders, was recently rechristened the James Earl Jones Theatre, and the Brooks Atkinson, current home to SIX, is set to become the Lena Horne Theatre.
