Emmy Award winning and Broadway alum Wayne Brady will join Jason Robert Brown in concert as part of Brown’s ongoing residency at downtown’s SubCulture May 19.
Though Brady often sang as part of the cast of improv television show Who’s Line Is It Anyway?, he proved his theatre chops when he made his Broadway debut as Billy Flynn in Broadway’s Chicago in 2004. In 2015, he returned to Broadway, replacing as Lola in the Tony-winning Best Musical Kinky Boots. He returned to the role for a short stint in 2018. He also starred as Aaron Burr in the Chicago engagement of Hamilton.
As has become customary at Brown’s monthly concerts, audiences will hear favorites from Brown’s Broadway catalog, new works in progress, and covers of his favorites. In fact, Brown’s album how we react and how we recover was written almost exclusively during his residency.
