Former child star and Broadway alum Aaron Carter passed away November 5 in Lancaster, California. He was 34. A cause of death has not been given.
Born December 7, 1987, Mr. Carter was thrust into the spotlight from an early age as the younger brother of Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter. Soon he pursued a music career of his own, opening for the boy band in 1997 at only 10 years old. He quickly became one of the last teen idols of the 20th century, with his debut self-titled album achieving gold status, and his sophomore effort Aaron's Party (Come Get It) selling more than three million copies in 2000.
In 2001, Mr. Carter came to Broadway, playing JoJo in Seussical during the final months of the production's run. In 2011, he returned to the stage as Matt in The Fantasticks, extended multiple times due to audience demand. A scheduled 2021 stage appearance in the Las Vegas engagement of Naked Boys Singing was cancelled.
Mr. Carter is survived by his son, Prince.
