Rest easy, everyone. There's officially a MacGyver musical. Tony nominees Brandon Victor Dixon and Taylor Louderman will star in the world premiere album of MacGyver: The Musical, set to be released January 27. The album, which will be released digitally and on CD, is available for preorder now, with two songs automatically unlocked with early purchase via iTunes.
The work previously premiered in 2022 in Houston, Texas, receiving the Houston Press' Best New Musical award.
Louderman and Dixon will be joined by Tristin Mays, the star of the MacGyver television reboot, and R.J. Christian.
MacGyver: The Musical is produced by creator of the original television series Lee Zlotoff, who also co wrote the book of the musical with Kate Chavez, Robin Holloway, and Lindsey Hope Pearlman. Music and lyrics are by Peter Lurye. The album features music production by Tony and Emmy winner Michael J. Moritz.
