Adam Gwon and Sarah Hammond's Richard Rodgers Award-winning musical String has joined Broadway Licensing Global's catalogue and is now available for professional and non-professional productions.
The company also dropped a studio cast recording of the show July 16, which is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all digital platforms. Frank Galgano, Gwon, and Hammond produced the album, recorded at Power Station studios. The cast includes Ciara Renée, Mary Kate Morrissey, Kuhoo Verma, Katie Thompson, Diana Huey, Raymond J. Lee, Jimmy Brewer, and Jay Armstrong Johnson.
The original musical centers on the Fates of Greek mythology. After angering Zeus, they find themselves exiled to a modern and mortal office building, where they continue their work controlling the destinies of all around them. The musical played a world premiere run at Washington state's Village Theatre in 2018.
“We are thrilled to welcome String into our catalogue and, moreover, to support the work of artists like Sarah and Adam,” says BLG Chief Executive Officer Ted Chapin in a statement. “This imaginative and heartfelt musical embodies the perfect blend of rich characters and the theatrical storytelling, making it an exceptional addition to theatre seasons everywhere.”
The album and musical feature orchestrations by Galgano and Matt Castle.
