Off-Broadway News Adam Guettel Releases 6 Demos From Days of Wine and Roses as Production Extends at Atlantic Theatre Company

The musical, starring Kelli O'Hara and Brian D'Arcy James, began performances May 5.

Good news! Two-time Tony winner Adam Guettel has released six demo recordings from his newest musical, Days of Wine and Roses. The recordings feature Guettel performing the tracks "Evanesce", "There Go I", "Are You Blue", "First Breath", "Underdeath", and "Forgiveness". They are available now on his website.

Additionally, it has been announced that Days of Wine and Roses will extend its run at the Atlantic Theatre Company, now running through July 16. Performances began May 5 for the Off-Broadway run, which will open June 5.

Written by Guettel and Craig LucasKelli O'Hara and Brian d'Arcy James lead the company as Kirsten and Joe, a couple that falls in love in New York City in the 1950s and struggles to rebuild a family. Days of Wine and Roses was originally a 1958 teleplay and 1962 film. Director Michael Greif helms the Off-Broadway run.

The company also stars Sharon Catherine Brown (Caroline, Or Change) as Mrs. Nolan, Bill English (Anything Goes) as Texan, Olivia Hernandez (Plaza Suite) as Betty, Byron Jennings (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) as Arnesen, David Jennings (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical) as Jim Hungerford, Ted Koch (To Kill a Mockingbird) as Rad, and Ella Dane Morgan (Waitress) as Lila, with Steven Booth, Nicole Ferguson, Scarlett Unger, and Kelcey Watson as understudies.

From the creative team, audiences are presented with choreography by Sergio Trujillo and Karla Puno Garcia, scenic design by Lizzie Clachan, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by Ben Stanton, sound design by Kai Harada, hair and wigs by David Brian Brown, props by Joshua Yocom, and orchestrations by Guettel and Jamie Lawrence. Kim Grigsby serves as music director, with Antoine Silverman as music contractor. Casting is by The Telsey Office.

The production is somewhat of a Light in the Piazza reunion. Guettel and Lucas previously collaborated on the 2005 musical, with Guettel winning Tony Awards for his score and orchestrations, and Lucas receiving a Tony nod for his book. O'Hara starred and was Tony-nominated for her performance as Clara.

The production is being presented in association with Alchemation and Mark Cortale, indicating a commercial transfer may be in the works.
