TNT has given its Snowpiercer adaptation, featuring two Tony Award winners, the official green light with a series order, Variety reports.
The previously announced ensemble cast includes Tony-winning Broadway favorites Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) and Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), as well as Jennifer Connelly, Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Benjamin Haigh, Sasha Frolova, Katie McGuinness, Alison Wright, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, and Sheila Vand.
Like the 2013 film of the same name, the series will be set on a massive train, housing by class the sole survivors of a global, apocalyptic Ice Age. Diggs will star as Layton Well, a prisoner-turned-revolutionary fighter against the elites who inhabit the front of the train. Hall will play Sayori, a member of the train’s upper management. The pilot was directed by Scott Derrickson and written by Josh Freidman. A premiere date will be announced at a later time.
