The filmed version of the hit Broadway show Hamilton will be released in movie theatres beginning September 5. Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast celebrated the milestone September 3 with a very special screening of the film at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Before the screening began, Miranda went onstage and noted that because the film was released in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, it never got a proper premiere with a big screen to match. So now with the movie's theatrical release, audiences will see Hamilton the film, Miranda said, “the way our incredible director Thomas Kail intended it to be seen by a group of people together.”

Miranda also shared one of his core memories from filming Hamilton, which was done in June 2016 with the show's original cast. "I have very few [memories] because we were really tired and we filmed it on our day off. But what I remember was thinking there will never be a group of superheroes like this under one roof again, and I’m so happy we get to share this one more time and get the premiere we never got to have five years ago.”

Hamilton will be released in movie theatres in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico September 5; the U.K. and Ireland September 26; and Australia and New Zealand November 13. Tickets can be purchased at Fandango.com.
