Based on the play by Frank Wedekind, Spring Awakening has book and lyrics by Sater, music and orchestrations by Sheik, string orchestrations by Simon Hale, and vocal arrangements by Annmarie Milazzo. The rock musical charts the complicated journey from adolescence to adulthood during a time when adolescents weren’t free to ask questions about their changing bodies and sexuality.
Evan Pappas, Argyle artistic director, said in a statement, “With its timeless tale of young people struggling to grow and express themselves and its fabulous rock and roll score, Spring Awakening is truly a modern classic. Not to mention, once again, we have assembled one of the most talented casts to be seen on Long Island.”
The production will also have set and costume design by William Bezek, lighting design by John Salutz, sound design by Carlos Dias, Jr., and props design by Lily Ten Eyck. The production stage manager is Ingrid Pierson, and the casting director is Michael Cassara.
