Utah's Pioneer Theatre Company will present Stephen Temperley's Souvenir December 6-21 in the Meldrum Theatre at the Einer Nielsen Field House. Wes Grantom will direct the production.

Linda Mugleston (The Music ManMy Fair LadyHello, Dolly!) and Bob Walton (Girl from the North CountryThe Drowsy Chaperone42nd Street) are set to star in the two-hander as Florence Foster Jenkins and Cosmé McMoon, respectively. Casting is by Bob Cline.

Souvenir follows Florence Foster Jenkins, a wealthy socialite with an insatiable passion for opera despite her tone-deaf voice. Supported by her loyal pianist, Cosmé McMoon, Jenkins ambitiously pursues her dream in 20th century New York City.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to Pioneer with this gem of a comedy. It’s a heartwarming story few people are familiar with and it’s a perfect way to kick off the holiday season,” Grantom said in a statement. “This will be my fifth production at the Pioneer, but my first in the Meldrum Theatre. I’m excited to work in this new, dynamic space.”

Grantom will be joined on the creative team by scenic designer Jo Winiarski (Jersey Boys, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), costume designer K.L. Alberts (A Christmas Story: The Musical), lighting designer Yang Yu (PrimordialUnresolved Rage Game), sound designer Bryce Robinette (The Lehman Trilogy, Native Gardens), hair and makeup designer Tami Lee Thompson (Jersey BoysPrayer for the French Republic), and music supervisor Alex Marshall (Elf). James O. Hansen will be production stage manager.
