The Gaiety Theatre, constructed in 1908, was located on 1547 Broadway at 46th Street. John Golden’s comedy Lightin’, produced here in 1918, was the first Broadway show in history to give more than 1,000 performances. The Gaiety Theatre was named the Embassy when it was demolished in 1982.
