The Invitation:

The Wardrobe Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all wardrobe needs and related activities during technical rehearsals and show run for Long Wharf Theatre’s production of She Loves Me in consultation with the Director of Production, Costume Supervisor, Production Stage Manager, and occasionally the Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Read the script for She Loves Me.

+ Maintain the artistic quality of all costumes and costume pieces for the run of the production.

+ See to all costume needs during the run of a show including cleaning, repairs, and alterations.

+ Coordinate and facilitate quick changes in consultation with Stage Management, wardrobe team members, other run crew, and actors to ensure a smooth run-of-show.

+ Facilitate the load-in and load-out of costumes and wardrobe supplies into performance venue.

+ Prepare costumes for show run by labeling, organizing, and creating paperwork.

+ Coordinate with wig designer and consult with hair & makeup supervisor.

+ Create a maintenance schedule.

+ Maintain wardrobe inventory and restock supplies.

+ Track purchases and submit receipts to Costume Supervisor in a timely manner.

+ Participate and cooperate in all training efforts as requested by Long Wharf Theatre.

+ Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by DoP and Stage Management.

+ Act as an exemplary representative of LWT when dealing with any public facing aspect of the position.

+ Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

+ Adhere to safe working practices and maintain a clean, orderly and safe workspace.

TheSkills & ExpertiseNeeded:  

Commitment to working in an organization committed to advancing anti-racism, gender equity and radical inclusion.  

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Solid computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).

Ability to work well under pressure with varied personalities, with a positive and dedicated problem-solving attitude.   

Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

Knowledge of running live performances in professional theatre.

Knowledge and understanding of theatre and the process.

Previous wardrobe experience.

Experience making wardrobe paperwork.

Experience maintaining cleaning supply stock.

Experience with clothing repairs.

Physical Requirements:  

This is a physically active role that requires the ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs., climb stairs, bend and stand for long periods oftime,as necessary.

Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully, consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.  

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.

Valid US Driver License in good standing subject to a motor vehicle record check.

Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.

Provable eligibility to work in the US.  

+ This position requires weekend and evening work.
