DESCRIPTION

& Sons Collective presents The Woke Tragedy of Richard III: Dyke of Gloucester, adapted by Maddy Rolon. This cut reimagines Shakespeare’s tragic history play, placing it in a near-future fallen United States by retaining and restructuring the original text. Richard is the Dyke of Gloucester, the title of “Dyke” being a combination of Duke and Lady created for nobles and oligarchs that engage in gender nonconformity. At ninety minutes, the piece uses a lesbian lens to explore a new perspective on Richard’s psychology, relationships, and demise with intensity and forward momentum.

This production is an & Sons Collective queer adaptation of Richard III conceived of by Maddy Rolon. Ava O'Dea and Emma Woodward are co-directing. Ellie Zambarano and Sarah Santamaria join us on the producing team.

We will be rehearsing throughout the city, but primarily in Gowanus from January 11th through February 18th. Performances will be in Gowanus over two weekends, on February 19th, 20th, 21st, 26th, 27th, and 28th.

This is a micro-budget, non-union production, but we strongly believe that artists should be compensated for their work. For this reason, we are offering stipends that range from $50-$200 depending on role commitment required.

Please submit via the form below. We are looking for actors of all backgrounds and identities. If we believe you may be a good fit for this project, we will be reaching out to request self-tapes via email.
