DESCRIPTION

Produced by New York City's storied Amas Musical Theatre, The Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy is an educational theatre program that provides a diverse company of high school students (ages 14-18) with the confidence, knowledge, and resources necessary to embrace their identities as individuals and strengthen their skills as theatre artists.

In its 48th year, the 2024-2025 Academy will include CLASSES in acting, singing, and dance techniques taught by Resident Faculty, SPECIALTY WORKSHOPS on non-performance disciplines (such as design, stage combat, and directing) led by Broadway Guest Instructors, A FIELD TRIP to The Museum of Broadway, TICKETS to Amas’ Off-Broadway productions, and PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES in a showcase and musical production.

Inspired by Amas’ mission to celebrate cultural equity and minority perspectives, this year’s Academy will also offer opportunities for students to EXPLORE how their identities inform their art-making, LEARN about diversity in musical theatre history, and CONNECT with local organizations that promote inclusive practices in professional theatre today.

Students will finish the school year with robust performance abilities, new theatrical experiences, and a passion to uphold and contribute to founder Rosetta LeNoire’s commitment to telling diverse stories with distinctive artists.

The Academy will run Saturdays October 26, 2024 - May 17, 2025, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM in The Amas Studio at 630 9th Ave, Suite 1400, New York, NY.

Tuition is $1,500 for the academic year. Scholarships are available!
